THey get all the teams together and loine them up on the base lines, introduce the team and the coaches, play the national anthem, and toss the first pitch. Then each team has a game that day.
This is Autumn's 3rd year in the actual softball league (not counting t-ball). She is one of the oldest on her team, and also one of the better players. Unfortunately, her team lost their first game 12-1. Autumn was the first one up to bat for the first game, and nerves got to her a little. But she did really well.
Abby and April are on the same t-ball team this year. This is Abby's third year playing t-ball, and she is probably the oldest on her team. We thought about moving her up to play in Autumn's league, but she misses the deadline by 6 months, and she is little for her age, so we decided to keep her in t-ball. I think she'll be bored there this year because her team is very young. Only 4 have ever played before. That doesn't sound too bad, but that is four out of 22 girls. They have 2 "teams" that the coaches coach together. one head coach and lots of helpers. They have done it this way since after Autumn's last year of t-ball. That year Autumn's whole team would show up for the games and the other team would have 4 or 5 girls show up. So, the next year a coach said, "Just let me have them all, and I'll split them into two teams on game day." It's been done that way ever since.
April is a little young (like 6 months young based on the deadline) but we asked if she could play, and they let us sign her up. He figured that she'd be there most of the time anyway, and she wants to play. Also, it makes it so we only have to chase one child around (North) at t-ball instead of 2.
Abby was being a stinker when I was trying to get these pictures, and April seemed very awkward in her hat.
